Some visitors tell us how they heard about the cornhole game

Here’s a few more entries on the question “How I learned about the game of cornhole”

I came across corn hole while tailgating at a college football game. We watched the people play, and then asked them how to play. They invited us to play a game and I have been hooked since. It have since played in many bag tournaments, built my own set of boards and friends want me to build them some. It is a blast to play with friends and family.

I saw my adult son and his friends playing the game. I thought maybe he would like to have his own game since he seemed to be having so much fun.  It would be an excellent Christmas gift.

My brothers friend had cornhole at his high school graduation party about 15 years ago. I played and i was actually pretty decent.

After that day I always wanted to play but never saw the game much up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Then in college a few friends had the game so Saturdays started to consist of beer and bags as we like to call it.

Learned about this game while at a party over at a friends house….Loved it, now I have made my own board and in the process of ordering bags from you! going to use them at my son’s birthday party!

About 6 years ago i moved to Florida.  I wasn’t here for 3 or 4 days until i discovered the wonderful world of cornhole. I went to a co-workers house for a little backyard BBQ.  Off in the distance i saw a large crowd gathered and cheering loudly.  I went straight over to see what the commotion was about.  It was cornhole.  coming from up north i had played horseshoes all my life.  this was a perfect alternative to the game that i had grown up loving.  I cant wait to have my own cornhole set up thank you SC cornhole

My husband and I are big Race Fans and are always looking for new outdoor games to play at the races and while we are camping. One day we saw this new game with what we thought were bean bags and started asking questions. Once we played we were hooked and had to have our own set. We have had two sets of bags and both times no matter what we have done we have gotten critters in our corn…NOT GOOD! My husband found your website so now we are thinking of ordering a different set/type of bags and see how we like them.

Played cornhole at a church picnic…loved it! We now have a set and play often. Needing some weatherproof bags to use during rainy season…saving our corn-filled bags for serious competition!

This summer, while on vacation at Ocean Drive, North Mrytle Beach, South Carolina, I saw a family playing corn hole on the beach. They were having so much fun, I thought I would consider 2 games – one for each of my sons!

How Did You Discover Cornhole Game?

One of the regular features of the blog is going to be talking about how people have discovered the game of cornhole.  I’ve been accepting submissions for this for some time and never got around to publishing most of them, but now I’m going to feature them on the blog.  Should be interesting to see how different areas of the country came to know the game.  Here’s the first one from Dave in Albuquerque, NM.

Well it was a little over ago at my daughter and son-in laws house in NC.  We were visiting in April and enjoying the not yet suffocating humidity and cool weather and several cold adult beverages when he mentioned a new game he just discovered.  He brought it out explained the rules and we threw some practice rounds…WHAT A BLAST!!!  So my wife picked up a cheap, easy carry set that we have used for several months.  Daughter and son-in-law came to visit in NM last week and together we built our own set of boards.  Now I need the regulation, weatherproof bags to replace the smaller version bags I had with the “other” game.  I have to put a finish on the boards and am looking forward to having friends over to enjoy the [real] game as soon as everything is ready.

Here’s another entry from Dorinda:

My husband started playing cornhole w/the guys at work.  He made a set and we play w/friends.  I’m horrible at it but it’s so much fun and thank goodness that my friend’s husband is bad too as it helps to offset our scores.  My husband has built several sets for friends and each set is better than the last.  My favorite was the camo, Duck’s Unlimited, stained set that he built for our future son-in-law.  My husband shares the love of the game. :)

Here’s an entry from Lorie:

We 1st seen people playing at a campground in Mrytle Beach SC. Then we were asked to play along with some camping neighbors in Ca..The kids enjoyed it so much we mist have our own. Great way to spend time with family and friends while making memories that last a lifetime.

Here’s one from Tommy in Salisbury,NC:

This past summer we were at the beach here in North Carolina and our brothers relatives introduced us to the game of Cornhole.
We were divided into teams and brackets were drawn up and levels of play were established.  Games went on for ours with a high level of interested being maintained.  Teams were equally divided according to skill level and therefore, everyone played a role and competed on an equal
footing.

The youngsters enjoyed playing as much as the older group. Following this introduction’ we returned home and became interested in playing Cornhole with my grandchildren. We have 15 grandchildren, so we were delighted with their interest. I obtained plans and built a set of boards and ordered the bags.
Since then , I discovered your website and the wonderful selection of boards and bags that you have. Now i have decided to order four complete sets from you with boards and bags.
